Image A group of U.S. government scientists have discovered three new antibodies, with the strongest killing 91 percent of HIV strains, the Wall Street Journal reported today.

The antibodies are another major breakthrough toward a vaccine for HIV, the disease that leads to AIDS. The antibodies were discovered inside a 60-year-old African-American male, known as "Donor 45," according to the Journal.

The research was published today in the journal Science.

The news comes a year after an experimental vaccine, administered to 16,000 volunteers by the Thailand Ministry of Public Health, showed a reduction in HIV risk by 31 percent.
